Graduate students are an integral part of CCE LTER research. Our students have a wide variety of expertise, including marine ecology, biogeochemistry, and physical modeling backgrounds. Students may participate in field research at sea on our process cruises or on CalCOFI cruises, as well as conducting shore-based research. Graduate students are also important to our education and outreach efforts, from interacting with the general public at Birch Aquarium to leading Pier Walks or mentoring undergraduate students.
